Ruth Connections

Naomi had lost everything.  She was away from home in a foriegn land, her husband and two sons had died and all she had left was her two moabite daughter in laws.  She tried to tell them to leave and go back to their homeland but neither one wanted to go.  Why should they stay?  She had nothing to offer them.  She had no more sons to give them to marry and she was too old to give birth to anymore.  She had no wealth and no land.  She was empty and heartbroken.

finally she convinced Orpah to go but the bible says that Ruth cleave to her.  Ruth made a covenant with her that wherever she went she would go.  Naomi's God would be here God and Naomi's people would be her people and only death would separate them.  What a connection Ruth and Naomi had.

This connection became an essential part of Both women's advancement in life.  Ruth did the work that Naomi needed done to survive being old and not having a husband or sons.  Ruth went out in the fields and gleaned in the harvest season.  She brought in wheat and grain just like a man would do.  The amazing part about the commitment and dedication of Ruth towards Naomi is the fact that Naomi had nothing to offer Ruth.  Ruth was committed to Naomi even though Naomi couldn't produce anything for her.

You need Ruth connections in your life if you want to advance into better places.  You need people that will be committed to you even though you can't do anything for them.  You will always need people in order to go to the next level.  People become bridges and door openers into the next phase of God's plan for your life.  But sometimes you will be in a place where you will need somebody and have nothing to bargain with.  You won't be able to pay for the help the you will desperately need.  This is where God sends Ruth's into your life.  Someone that will help without expectation of anything in return.  They're not out for themselves but out for you.

Ruth's bring restoration into your life.  Understand that Naomi left her homeland in Bethel to go down to moab because of famine.  After about ten years she went back home with Ruth but according to Jewish law she had been gone to long to redeem her land.  Now according to custom only a kinsmen could redeem her land for her.  But we find in scripture that the person's field that Ruth was harvesting in was a kinsman of Naomi.  His name was Boaz and Boaz began to fall for Ruth.  Through Ruth's relationship with Boaz, Boaz was convinced to redeem Naomi's land back on her behalf.  Because of this connection with Ruth Naomi was restored what famine and death had taken.

You've been with people that have taken and taken from you.  They've been all about themselves and just drained you dry.  Now it's time to say good bye to the destroyers and hello to the restorers.  You need some connections that's going to be key to restoration in your life.  You need to begin to ask for some Ruth's.

But here's the key, YOU CAN'T BE BITTER!  Since Naomi could produce nothing for Ruth I have to conclude that Ruth's commitment to her was based on something deeper than things.  Noami's name means sweet, pleasant, beautiful.  Naomi probably had a wonderful personality and strong character.  I believe that Ruth wanted to be with Naomi because of who she was.  And the fact that Naomi had been through all that she had been through and Ruth still wanted to cling to her tells me that Naomi didn't change.  Naomi didn't let the circumstances make her bitter.  Understand that if you want a Ruth in your life you got to let go of your past.  Your not going to find someone that's going to want to commit to you like Ruth if you are a mean, angry, bitter human being because of what you've been through.  Some folks are saying, "Why doesn't anyone want to help me?  Why doesn't anyone care about me?"  While they treat everybody like they've got a hidden agenda.

You need Ruth's in your life but you have to get healed first.  Let go of yesterday and what people have done to you.  Not everybody is going to leave you and break your heart.  You've got to put your trust in God instead of man.  Man will fail Because man is not perfect.  But God will never fail.  He'll never bail or quit on you.  His love is infallible and everlasting.  If your trust is in God it won't matter what man does to you.  Man is not your source God is.  God uses man to bless you but God's still the blesser.  If a relationship doesn't workout in your life it's OK.  That relationship wasn't the source, God is the source.  He'll just send another.
